Trinity County is blessed with a number of excellent fly fishing guides and instructors, and after years of listening to our customers comments, Red Hill Motel has learned how to put you in contact with a guide service that meets your needs regardless of your fishing experience, from the novice to the experienced caster.
From this page, you can link to our fishing maps that show a number of the better areas of access for both the Trinity River and Lewiston Lake.
Your Fishing Calendar
The Trinity River offers an extremely rich variety of angling opportunities. Although salmon and steelhead dominate the sportfishing, brown trout provides an exciting alternative. Chinook salmon enter the Trinity in the late spring, and provide good fishing well into the summer months.
In late August and early September, the fall run of Chinook and Coho salmon enter the river, followed closely by Steelhead. Anglers come from every corner of the world to pit their skills against the bright, chrome colored, hard fighting steelhead.
Fly Fishing Only
The stretch of water from Lewiston Dam downstream to the Old Lewiston Bridge is set aside for fly fishing only. Be sure to check the current sportfishing regulations for special river closures. |

Trout...................................................................Year 'round
Cold water releases from Trinity Lake support excellent populations of aquatic insects, creating a year 'round destination for anglers. Bait and lure anglers also do very well fishing for Rainbow, Brown, and Brook trout.
